In this unusual approach to leadership, college president Steven B. Sample-the man who turned the University of Southern California into one of the most highly regarded and extremely ranked universities in the country-challenges numerous conventional teachings on the topic. Here, Sample lays out an iconoclastic design of leadership that flies in the face of current leadership thought, but a design that unquestionably works. And he offers numerous useful, if questionable, strategies for successful leadership, suggesting, among other things, that leaders should in some cases compromise their concepts, not read whatever that comes throughout their desks, and constantly put off decisions.
