PARIS (Reuters) – The head of European planemaker Airbus called on Saturday for a “ceasefire” in a transatlantic trade war over aircraft aids, stating tit-for-tat tariffs on aircrafts and other goods had exacerbated damage from the COVID-19 crisis.
Washington gradually enforced import duties of 15%on Plane jets from 2019 after a prolonged disagreement at the World Trade Company, and the EU reacted with matching tariffs on Boeing (NYSE:-RRB- jets a year later.
Faury said the conflict with Boeing was particularly harmful throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, which has badly struck air travel and led to take a trip restrictions or border closures.
Poland stated on Saturday it had actually not ruled out enforcing constraints at the country’s borders with Slovakia and the Czech Republic due to increasing COVID-19 cases.
